The Delta Zone

In life there are end-zones, cal-zones, and, of course, hardiness zones, but none compare to "The Delta Zone", or the GCA Zone Meeting held in the Delta. This past week, over 200 Southern ladies from The Garden Club of America's Zone IX descended upon the Delta.  It has been a two year planning process, and for 3 day we weren't just "in the zone" we were the "zone".

The exquisite attention to detail included everything from the bus lines for transportation in day tours to the polishing of goblets for dinners on the Bayou and linens in the restroom...and EVERYTHING in between, but the Delta shone like the North star (the ONLY comparison to our Yankee neighbors) in this article. This meeting was a testament to the tenacity of Southern women to show the greatest degree of hospitality possible, and not just Southern women, Mississippi Delta women.  The show we put on in the Delta was described as "unbelievable", "amazing", "awe inspiring"... all to say the least.

For me, as an outsider with an inside perspective ( I served as mom's right hand) during the meeting, I have never seen anything like this, nor have I ever been more proud to be from the Delta.  I only wish I had the words to describe the shear awe I carried throughout the meeting. So instead of a bunch of words that will serve no justice, I leave you with a visual treat images I captured throughout the week.
